Italy's Hearts Apart return with Summer Bummer, an EP that blends punk rock, melancholy, and pure energy. The new release, out on February 28 via Epidemic Records, will be available digitally and as a special limited-edition colored vinyl.

After years of live shows and two EPs that defined their sound, the band raises the bar with six new tracks recorded spontaneously and directly, thanks to an idea from producer and friend Maurizio Icio Baggio. The result? A rawer, more visceral, and authentic sound that perfectly captures their essence: emotional intensity, self-irony, and an unstoppable drive to play punk rock.

Ahead of the album's release, the single I Hate The Summer gives a taste of what Summer Bummer has to offer. A song born almost as a joke, it perfectly embodies the contrast between the lightheartedness of punk rock and the darker emotions of summer—filled with sweat and tears, fun and melancholy, a soundtrack for both dancing and sobbing at the same time.

"We recorded these six songs in no time, letting instinct guide us," say Hearts Apart. "What came out is an even more direct and spontaneous EP compared to our previous work. And despite the cassette recorder, it sounds absolutely killer!"

Hearts Apart’s journey began in the summer of 2018, with the urge to channel the existential struggles of approaching forty into punk rock and rock’n’roll, with Marked Men as a key reference. After making their live debut in 2021 on the back of a beat-up pickup truck at a mountain refuge 1,825 meters above sea level, the band has refined their sound through countless shows, cheap beers, and an uncontainable passion for music. With Summer Bummer, Hearts Apart reaffirm their growth, carrying forward their unique formula of despair, irony, and pure rock’n’roll.

2025 is set to be an intense year for the band, with upcoming shows already scheduled across Italy and Germany, and the dream of taking their music overseas. In the meantime, Summer Bummer is ready to win over punk rock and power pop lovers alike—making us sing, dance, and maybe even shed a tear.
