GAB DE LA VEGA releases new video “I Still Believe”, an acoustic open letter

Gab De La Vega presents “I Still Believe”, his third video from the new album “Beyond Space And Time”, released on January 24th.
The italian born musician grew up in the punk and hardcore scenes but he found a way to express himself through softer sounds in the last decade. His third full length sees the definitive opening to a collaboration with a supporting band, with which he was able to play some shows to promote his new album before the Covid emergency, in addition to the debut full band show as an opening act to Frank Turner last year.
But “I Still Believe” rediscovers the essentiality of the most direct and personal communication of a songwriter who is not afraid to step on stage alone.

Gab De La Vega comments:

” “I Still Believe” is probably the most intimate song on “Beyond Space And Time”. It comes at the end of a full band album and it takes it all back to the core: vocals and acoustic guitar. That’s it.

The video was shot way before the album came out. I filmed this with Bradley James Allen in May 2019 and it was meant to come out in the Spring of 2020 as a third single off the new album, following “Perfect Texture” and “YYZ”. The plan was to launch this single to promote the solo, acoustic tours in between the full band ones. When everything went south due to the Covid19 pandemic, I decided to wait and release it when I felt it was a better time.

It’s a song of hope, a song about the faith in the future, the need to keep making the world a bit better day by day and the trust in the power of the young to rise to the occasion when it comes to do the right thing and take back their own future, not only ours.
As a kid I remember growing up feeling disheartened by the lack of trust the older generations had in us. Every generation struggles between right and wrong, good and bad.
In the times we’re living in it’s clear that important changes must happen. Whether it is for social justice, equality, human rights, climate crisis or animal rights, I think that we’re facing so many questions that need proper answers. It’s up to us to do what is right and it’s up to who will follow to carry the torch.

“I Still Believe” is a powerful phrase, it captivates the song’s message. That’s why I thought it was a good idea for the video to write an open letter and deliver it to the people of my hometown Brescia, in Italy.
That’s the city you see in the video and those are some of the places that mean something to me, for a reason or another. People from Brescia will definitely recognize them.
Being “I Still Believe” a song about hope, I think it has even a deeper meaning now that the worst phase of the Covid19 emergency has passed. Brescia, along with Bergamo, was one of the cities that suffered the most in the early stages of the pandemic.
I couldn’t know back in 2019 when we shot the video, but now that I watch it again and see those familiar places and I remember the way we all felt here during the crisis, I feel like a part of me now is singing this song for my city, wounded but not defeated.”

The record was released by Epidemic Records and Backbite Records and it’s available on all digital platforms, vinyl and CD at this link. www.smarturl.com/GabDeLaVegaBSAT

In the summer Gab De La Vega got the chance to promote his new album as a solo performer, with 11 shows across Italy, Germany and Czech Republic.

REGARDE RELEASE NEW VIDEO THAT CAPTURES THE FEELINGS OF LOCKDOWN

Regarde releases a new emotional video, that captures the feelings of we’ve all been through during the Covid 19 lockdown. The video was edited starting from the footage by Stella Tosi.
The song is featured on their new album “The Blue And You”, which came out right before the pandemic.

The band’s comment:
“In these last few months of half-lived life, we found ourselves observing our own spaces with new eyes. It felt like we’ve been looking back at our old reality through the peephole of a door.
The footage has been entirely filmed during the lockdown, inside one single house, using a phone camera.
“Carried Away” talks about a spring that will never come around, leaving us with a bittersweet taste of loss and melancholy.”

15% OFF Everything and Important statement about COVID19

Dear Friends,
Gab from Epidemic Records here. Some (sort of) bad news and (definitely) good news:
The “bad” ones first: I’ve been thinking a lot about this in the last couple of days and due to the serious situation and the measures to contrast the spreading of COVID19 over here in Italy, I’ve decided to

STOP ALL ORDER SHIPPING UNTIL APRIL 3rd.

Epidemic Records E-store: www.epidemicrecords.net/store

As you know, Italy is on a full lockdown to contrast the spreading and hard measures have been taken in order protect people from the virus. The danger is real, it’s not to be underestimated.
I’ve considered concentrating them on one single day per week (express courier pick up) and to stop only those from the post office, but I think it’s better to avoid any unnecessary exposure for people working in logistics and for myself in these days.

Many people can’t work from home and they still have to drive around, pick up parcels, process them… and I don’t want to be the reason for them to be working in these risky conditions.
Records and merch are cool, but they can wait and I assume that if you follow Epidemic Records and its spirit, you understand and agree with my decision.

Now the good news:
to thank you for your patience and to cheer you up in these “hard times” (quote), I’ve decided to give you the chance to use the code FUCKCOVID19 until April 3rd. It means you’ll get 15% OFF your order!

To sum it up: everything is 15% OFF with code FUCKCOVID19, but it will be shipped out when the emergency will be over (theoretically from April 3rd, but it all depends on how it goes).

This being said: if you live in Italy, you already know what’s going on.
If you live abroad, here’s some friendly advice.

Don’t underestimate the problem.
The virus spreads rapidly, it’s no ordinary flu. Whoever says it is doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Avoid crowded places, keep your distance, don’t shake hands, don’t touch your mouth, nose or eyes, wash your hands frequently and deeply.
It’s very dangerous, not only for the elderly and those with health conditions, but even for the young. Patient 1 in Italy was a very athletic 38 year old man. He’s been on BLS for 2 weeks and he’s just recently got off his ventilator.

If you have time to kill, all Epidemic Records releases are available on all digital platforms. Bandcamp collects all of them here: www.epidemicrecordshc.bandcamp.com

Thanks for understanding, I’m sure one day we’ll be able to go back to our normal lives and joke about, for example, the fact that of all the names that I could pick for my label, I chose this one!

Be safe out there!

Gab De La Vega releases new album Beyond Space And Time, going full band and breaking every boundaries.

Beyond Space And Time is the new full length by Gab De La Vega, a multifaceted singer-songwriter who, from his experience in the hardcore punk world, has been able to explore and follow a new path made of hints of modern folk and increasingly present features of alternatives rock, until today, a fundamental moment in his creative path.
Order your copy here: https://www.epidemicrecords.net/store/22-gab-de-la-vega

Active with this project since 2011, Gab De La Vega with Beyond Space And Time reaches the full band dimension, after the very successful experiment of I Want Nothing, a single released in 2017.

The third album was anticipated by Perfect Texture (which sees the collaboration with Nicola Manzan, known as Bologna Violenta) and YYZ, two singles with very different souls, to reveal the different sounds on the album.

Eleven different tracks that create a compact and solid work, in which the singer-songwriter explores more rock and impactful sounds, halfway between the American school and the British sounds, always keeping in mind the identity cultivated in these years and the influences collected over time.

You can perceive, from the first listening, the distance covered by the previous Never Look Back and it is inevitable to see the new dimension that this musical project acquires with this album.

The new work was recorded and mixed by Simone Piccinelli at La Buca Recording Club in Montichiari and mastered by Jack Shirley, Grammy nominated producer and sound engineer (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Jeff Rosenstock, Gouge Away…) at The Atomic Garden Studio in Oakland, California.

To celebrate the release there will be a few full band dates, after the show number 0 at Festa di Radio Onda d’Urto (Brescia), opening for Frank Turner last August.
Along with Gab De La Vega on these full band dates: Simone Piccinelli (Plan De Fuga, Paletti, Moon in June), Giorgio Marcelli (Moon in June, Monk), Marco Cellini (The Smashrooms).

9.02 – Parma, Splinter Club

There will also be acoustic shows (the only one announced at the moment is Sunday, February 2nd at Comics Bar in Martinengo) and tours, both full band and solo in Europe, provided by the German Booking Agency “Flix Agency”.

Regarde: the new album “The Blue And You is out, a masterpiece of atmospheres and melodies.

Two years after the release of the previous Leavers (Epidemic Records), Regarde from Vicenza (Italy) are back with a new, incredible full length.
“The Blue And You” is a work of ten tracks in which the winning characters of “Leavers” are further enhanced. Soft melodies, refined atmospheres and variety of dynamics.
Each track is a different episode, made of refined but always spontaneous details; “The Blue And You” flows pleasantly, passing from emotion to emotion, continuing on its way with extreme ease.

The album was produced by Bob Cooper in Leeds and was mastered by Maurizio Baggio. The artworks were entrusted to Michele Bruttomesso, who also developed the concept in the visual of the single “Small Talks”. The release of the record sees a renewed collaboration with Epidemic Records (Italy) and the support of Through Love Records (Germany).

The record is present on all digital platforms http://smarturl.com/R-TBAY and can be purchased on vinyl at live concerts or on https://www.epidemicrecords.net/store/44-regarde or via https://throughloverec.com/

Singer-songwriter Gab De La Vega shares “YYZ”, second video out of the new album “Beyond Space And Time”

YYZ is the new video by Gab De La Vega, who ended 2019 with the release of “Perfect Texture”, first single to reveal the new record “Beyond Space And Time”, his third full length album, which is coming out on January 24th.

The song comes with a music video directed by Jaden D and edited by Bradley James Allen.

The song lyrics are deep, personal and reveal the ability of De La Vega to read his own as well as other people’s life, the world and the time we live in, evoking images that could appear familiar to many.

De La Vega comments:
“YYZ is about feeling lost and disoriented in life. It’s about the need to find your place in the world. The moments in which you have to make decisions that might change everything, without having a clue of what the outcome might be. It’s about the daily struggle to steer your own life and at the same time accept that you don’t have full control of everything that happens to you.
The song lyrics refer to a summer afternoon two years ago. I was walking in downtown Toronto, chasing my thoughts in the alleys of my mind. At one point I looked around and I realized my feet took me astray. I had to figure out where I was. I was kind of lost, literally… and metaphorically.”

The video was shot in Toronto in the summer of 2019. This is what De La Vega had to say about it:

“I decided to tribute the city in the video. I love Toronto, it feels like second home.
Jaden, who directed the video, is my cousin and he’s from Toronto. We had this idea so we went around the city and I started busking, playing the song at some of the most and some of the least busy corners of the city.
There are no actors in the video, only the people of Toronto. They were running late to hop on their train, they were shopping, they were groups of friends or couples chatting, they were regular people caught up in their regular lives on an ordinary summer day. We provided the soundtrack, but they were the protagonists. Some of them stopped to hear me play, even for a few seconds, others liked it and dropped a coin in the case. I tried to go along the flow and become part of the play for that day, impersonating someone whose life is not different from anybody’s. I guess it’s just what we do, we live our lives, we play our scripts.”

The new album “Beyond Space And Time” was recorded and mixed by Simone Piccinelli at La Buca Recording Club in Montichiari and mastered by Grammy-nominated sound engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Jeff Rosenstock, Sun Valley Gun Club, Gouge Away…) at The Atomic Garden Recording Studios in Oakland, California.

Released by Epidemic Records and the German label Backbite Records.

Preorders for Vinyl and CDs are being taken from now at: https://www.smarturl.com/GabDeLaVegaBSAT

To celebrate the album release, De La Vega is announcing a first round of full band shows across Italy, while other full band as well solo shows across Europe are being booked, starting from March.

Regarde: new single “Small Talks” reveals another piece of their new album.

New single for Regarde, one of the most interesting acts of the Italian underground. A band that has been able to explore themselves and explore different sounds at each release and at the same time create their own distinctive identity in the musical proposals of this country.
The four piece from Vicenza present us “Small Talks”, a song that embodies the energy of the band’s first productions and new melodic paths, in a well balanced mixture. This is the second preview of the new album “The Blue And You”, out on January 24th for Epidemic Records and the German Through Love Records.
“Small Talks” represents, together with the previous single “Wide Awake”, a great taste of the new work coming out. A valuable visual created by Michele Bruttomesso comes along with the song.

The band commented the single:

“Sometimes in your life you feel the need to say out loud everything you have on our mind to whoever is in front of you, wether the listener is actually caring for the message or not.
You ask yourself if you choose the right path, if you are becoming the person you’d wanted to be, or if you are just struggling  through life for some reason.
But there will come a time you’ll realize you just have to talk straight, being aware that some
people will not be able to stand it and that they will rather leave than face the truth.”

“The Blue And You” follows two EPs (the first, self-titled of 2014, the year of birth of the band and Perspectives, released in 2015) and it is the heir to the first beautiful full length Leavers (2018), a real turning point in the life of the band, in which the magma bubbling in the core of the group has also been able to consolidate in structures and compositional architecture, capable of best expressing the great potential of Regarde.
While for Leavers Regarde had flown to Boston to work with Jay Maas, for this new effort the four musicians relied on Bob Cooper, producer based in Leeds, who captured the soft soul of some of the melodic passages of the songs and at the same time enhanced the rhythms, which is always calibrated and never exaggerated, a result that Maurizio Baggio’s mastering exhalted in every detail.

While the Preorder will continue until the release date (24th January) on http://smarturl.com/R-TBAY (for digital and vinyl), the band from Vicenza is warming up their engines for the first dates celebrating the launch of this new work:

Gab De La Vega: new single “Perfect Texture” announces his new album.

Singer-songwriter Gab De La Vega shares his new single “Perfect Texture” to announce the release of his new album, “Beyond Space And Time”, which is coming out on January 24th 2020.
It’s his third full length album and it’s the first to be full-band arranged. It follows his debut full band effort, “I Want Nothing”, which came out in 2017.

The single comes with a video directed by Bradley James Allen and co-directed by Jaden D and Gab De La Vega, in which a Back To The Future DeLorean appears, in a dreamy surreal scenario that mixes reality and fiction, which boundaries blur into something indistinguishable. What is real and what is fake?

Gab De La Vega comments: “It seems to me that the boundaries between what’s real and what’s fake tend to be undefined nowadays. Everything runs at twice the speed today and it has become so superficial that we don’t even bother questioning if our perceptions are real. This has an impact on everything.

For example, it’s easy to take a quick glance at a person’s life through the lenses of social media and think they are having the greatest of lives, when in fact they are not as shiny as they look.
The comforting flawless surface of this post-truth world we internalize deteriorates the connections to the (real) world and to the people in it. It leads to loneliness, social anxiety, fear of judgment and gets us involved in a perpetual chase for easy distraction and interactions based on instant gratification.

It’s easy to be dragged into this game, but eventually there’s a way out. When the walls around us grow taller and the room around us gets smaller, we just need to reach out for the handle and pull it: there’s another world outside, in which we can truly be ourselves, with flaws and virtues and have healthy interactions with the each other. It is liberty in its purest form.”

Pefect Texture” features Nicola Manzan (aka Bologna Violenta), a multi-instrumentalist and composer who previously worked with many artists such as Il Teatro Degli Orrori, Baustelle, Fast Animals And Slow Kids, Lo Stato Sociale and others. He played the violin and the viola in the song.

The new album “Beyond Space And Time” has been recorded and mixed by Simone Piccinelli at La Buca Recording Club in Montichiari and mastered by Grammy-nominated sound engineer Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Jeff Rosenstock, Gouge Away…) at The Atomic Garden Recording Studios in Oakland, California.

It’s released via Gab’s own label Epidemic Records and the German label Backbite Records.
Preorders for Vinyl and CDs are being taken from now via their websites.

After years of non-stop touring across most of the European Countries and treks in the US, Canada, Chile and Argentina, i
n 2019 Gab De La Vega toured Europe and Canada and played his first show with a full band line up as Gab De La Vega and The Open Cages, opening for Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls in Brescia, Italy.

This new single throws a glance at what comes next: full band as well solo tours are being booked across Europe by Flix Agency, with an official release party at Lio Bar in Brescia (his hometown in Italy) on February 8th.

2020 already looks busy and tour dates to promote “Beyond Space And Time” will be announced soon. Keep an eye out!

We’ve asked a few questions to Sergi, guitarist in the band. If you don’t know Blowfuse yet… well, you can catch up now! So you won’t miss them at any of these 4 shows!
Enjoy!

You guys are about to come back to Italy, where you’ve played several times now.
What do you like about playing here? What’s the most fun show you’ve played around here and why? What do you expect from this new Italian tour?

Italy feels like home. People in Italy has a similar approach to life and they’re warm-blooded just like us. Shows are wild as fuck: I remember Venice Hardcore Fest being one of our first shows in Italy back in 2016 and boy that was unexpected, stagediving all over the place! But If I had to choose I would pick Sherwood Festival last year as the craziest pf all. So much fun. We don’t really expect anything, we just hope the shows are crowded and that we have a good time in la bella Italia!

Your sound was primarily influenced by skate punk and melodic hardcore at first, but with “Daily Ritual” it has turned towards broader influences: I can hear 90s rock, grunge and metal-funk references that probably characterize your identity as a band more than anything else nowadays.
How did you get to this?

Thanks for that. Well, truth is we’ve always listened to extremely different music from funk to classical, but we were afraid of stepping out of the faster punk-ish style. But for this record we decided that we were going to put everything we have into it and put fear aside. More than ever before, we strife to create a new sound, and every record is a step forward.

Blowfuse has grown a lot as a band, you’ve been playing big festivals and tours with bands I guess you’ve loved since you were young punks. How does it feel? What was your favorite show in 2019 and what are you looking forward to in 2020? I guess touring with Bad Religion, Suicidal Tendencies and Millencolin is going to be a huge thing, but is there anything else you are really looking forward to?

It feels good man, I guess it’s a cliché to say we didn’t expect this when we first started but it’s true. We’re so lucky to have played with NOFX some shows this year, but I’d say my favorite one has been Barna ‘N’ Roll Festival in our hometown Barcelona, with The Offspring, Talco and more great bands. Well.. Can’t say much but something’s cooking for 2020, we will try to play as much as we can and hopefully, put out new music! Being part of Bad Religion’s 40th anniversary tour is simply mind blowing, but we’re also trying to visit new countries and play new festivals…life’s short so there’s no better time than now!

You guys are definitely a very fun band to watch live, and anyone who has watched you play live can confirm that I guess. But your lyrics seem to have specific topics that go beyond the repertoire of a party band; they are about life, they deliver messages and reflections that go deep, sometimes playing with irony, other times with references to personal experiences, but always about something that we can all relate to.
Is it possible to be a fun band to watch and enjoy live but still get to convey something more at shows? Do you feel like this duality of yours is something your fans look for and find in your band?
What do you think people appreciate the most at your shows?

Being in a band, playing hundreds of shows and writing music makes you think about what are you doing with your life and what do you really want to do with it; for us, having a band is the perfect tool for learning about ourselves and trying to become a better person.

Back then we used to write about what we thought we were supposed to talk: politics, social criticism, etc. But this time we all agreed we wanted to be truthful and honest and tap into our inner feelings and emotions, that’s what ‘Daily Ritual’ is about. Like you said, the good thing about this is that everyone can relate to it.

As a live band, we focus a lot on giving the audience a different live experience to what they’re used to, altough as musicians we want to feel free to express truthfully. So yeah, I think it’s achievable to give both inner and outter experiences to the listeners.

What bands should we listen to? Any tips about new bands or current bands that our readers should check out?

My advice is: listen to every band out there, old and new, death metal or jazz music. As a person, every genre makes you feel a unique emotion and in the end, and as a musician, in the end you will consciously and unconsciously absorv from every band you’re listening to and that is going to show on your songwriting and style.

What is the best thing about touring? How different would you guys be as individuals as well as musicians if you didn’t have the chance to tour as much as you do?

Altough touring sometimes is hard, overall is the funniest thing of being in a band; it’s the reward after the hard work. You just have to make sure you get to the venue in time and play the songs accurately haha. Being on tour has definetely shaped us as who we are now and I’m dead sure we wouldn’t be the same without these experiences. For that we feel very greatful and we hope to keep on doing it as long as we’re alive.

Italy is waiting for you, and I’m sure you’re going to have a great time here!
You have the chance to say something to your Italian friends and fans who are looking forward to these shows!

Thank you all, without each one of you this would not make sense. See you soon, the spiral is coming for you!
