Gab De La Vega has been announced in the line up of Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings Festival in Berlin, to be held in September.
The musician has just released a new single, “Demons of Tomorrow,” a track that expresses the energy of the full band lineup “Gab De La Vega and The Open Cages,” with which he has been performing, in addition to solo dates.
The single was preceded by another track, “We Could Be Anything“, an excellent example of the acoustic sounds of the solo set.
The latest album released is “Beyond Space and Time“, due out in January 2020.
Gab De La Vega is currently recording his fourth album.

Throughout the years he toured Europe extensively and he also hit the US East Coast, Canada and South America. He played small shows and big shows, sharing the stage with artists such as Frank Turner, Against Me!, Chuck Ragan, Joey Cape, Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), Austin Lucas, Ceremony, H2O and many more.

Jaguero release “Worst Weekend Ever”, their incredible debut EP.

After unveiling their cards with two smashing singles, the Italian punk rock band Jaguero come out with their debut EP, “Worst Weekend Ever”, released in collaboration with Epidemic Records.

LISTEN TO THE ALBUM:

The four friends came up with the name “Jaguero” during a night of partying, a crazy union between a wild animal and a soccer player. They immediately fell in love with the idea, imagining “Jaguero” as a lucha-libre wrestler, who spends his life between obscurity and glory.

The four come from disparate experiences: Slander (Matteo Marangoni), La Fortuna (Andrea Cichellero’s solo project) and Regarde (Guido Dal Prà and Andrea Campesato Segnini). In this EP they mix the reference sounds of their various artistic paths as well as their own varied musical tastes.

The band comments:
“The ambient influences of Andrea’s solo project, La Fortuna, give Jaguero small but important traits that characterize the songs. His musical taste is extremely broad: from 50’s jazz to modern punk rock, from traditional Italian song to hardcore, and more. Jaguero is where this range of listening converges in a balance of song characterization and aggression.
While Matteo’s history with Slander needs no introduction, his old-school influences give a distinct character to the heavier sections of the songs, with particular attention to the lyrics: screaming, massive riffing, and direct phrases are present thanks to him.
Last but not least, Guido and Andrea define a solid rhythm section: both of them focus their attention on small details of the songs, not only on their own instrument but especially regarding the overall direction of the song.”

Meanwhile, their band Regarde is active, with a solid background of eight years of live performances and several records: two full lengths, two EPs and a split. Taking a parallel path with the Jaguero project, they both felt the urge to move towards a more direct and punk vibe, writing fast songs that catch the listener’s ears.

But the motto here is pretty simple: have a lot of fun and zero stress.
Both Regarde and La Fortuna are still in business, while Matteo (Slander) is focusing completely on his tattooing career. Between life, work and other projects, the four punk rockers want to play music and enjoy what music can give them and others. This EP was born from the extreme urge to play songs at full volume, after a long break from live concerts.

To consolidate everything, the masterful work of Maurizio Baggio of La Distilleria, a recording studio renowned for this kind of sound.
And taking up the challenge and launching Jaguero to new listeners is longtime friend Gab De La Vega, at the helm of Epidemic Records, who is playing a central role in bringing Jaguero through the right channels.

Rest In Peace Calvin, singer in Grand Collapse.

Hello friends of Epidemic Records.

This is Gab. It took me a few days to write this.

Sadly Cal, lead singer of Grand Collapse, left us suddenly about ten days ago. The news came as a shock.

Many of you have shown your appreciation for his band and I felt it was only right to let you know.

Below is the text of a post I made on social media when I received the news, Perhaps it will help you understand how special Cal was.

If any of you had pre-ordered the second pressing of Grand Collapse’s “Empty Plinths”, which we announced just a few days before his passing, I’m getting in touch with the other members of the band and with TNS Records and Dusty Wax, the other labels involved in this reissue. As soon as we figure out what’s going to happen we’ll give you updates. In the event that it all blows up, I will proceed to refund any preorders placed.

Thank you for your attention and understanding.

Gab

RIP CALVIN.

I’m devastated by the sad news I got today. I’m writing this from the bottom of my heart and it feels so absurd to address this today. I’m still in shock and I can’t believe it.

I met Cal in Berlin back in 2013. I was on tour and he was on tour with Grand Collapse. We met at the venue and realized we had several mutual friends, but most importantly, that we came from the same tribe. I was absolutely impressed by his band and their live performance. We became friends that night and we kept in touch.

He booked me in Bristol in 2015 and I stayed at his place. I remember that day as one of the best on that tour.
He asked me “Do you want to drive or walk to the venue?”. He said it was pretty close so I thought it would have been nice to go on a walk and chat along the way. It was, in fact, quite distant, especially when carrying a guitar case, but maybe it was a short distance for his giant steps. “Typical Cal” I assume some of his closer friends would say. But we did have the chance to chat along the way though and I had another chance to experience how extremely funny and clever he was. Carrying my guitar across Bristol to get to the venue was compensated with Cal’s genuine enthusiasm for having me there and I also felt it was the right call to trade a bit of comfort for that moment that now resonates as unique and unforgettable.

Unfortunately I missed him on my second time in Bristol in 2018 (I think he was on tour with the band), but last year our paths crossed again, when he asked me to join other cool labels in the release of Grand Collapse “Empty Plinths” with my label Epidemic Records.
An incredible album, in which Cal shows what a great vocalist and lyricist he was. I was flattered.
We’ve been in touch constantly in the last two years, working on interviews, promotion, distribution, and all the things you do when you work together on such a project.
Our distant but constant friendship turned into a tight collaboration and his infectious enthusiasm for that masterpiece of an album matched my joy to be part of this, especially after these last two years.

I am in shock today. I can’t believe he’s gone. Last time we spoke it was 10 days ago.
As I’m writing this, I probably haven’t fully realized what has just happened but I know it’s going to hurt for a long time, if not forever.
I can’t really find better words than these to let my pain out. He was a true legend, an amazing human being and a kind friend.
My love goes to his bandmates, his family and friends and everyone who had the chance to meet him. He was truly one of a kind and I feel honoured I could call him a good friend.

Goodbye Cal, you will always be one of the best.
Gab

Gab De La Vega announces European Tour and appearance at Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings Festival

Gab De La Vega had been forced to cancel and postpone the acoustic tour in Austria, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium last November/December, due to a worsening of the situation that in recent years has characterized every on-the-road adventure for any musician.
The dates have been rescheduled for mid-May.

May 12 – Innsbruck, A – Wohnzimmer
May 13 – Nürnberg, D – Projekt 31
May 14 – Wiesbaden, D – Tagwerk
May 15 – Aachen, D – Lolaparoli
May 16 – Bergen Op Zoom, NL – Vader Huiskamer
May 17 – Münster, D – Black Heaven Skate Shop
May 18 – Duisburg, D – Stapeltor
May 19 – Solingen, D – Wohnzimmer
May 20 – Ranst, B – Kapel Van De Pastorij
May 21 – Sankt Wendel, D – Zur Tränke
May 22 – Karlsruhe, D – Café Noir

But the week has been full of important announcements.
In addition to the solo acoustic dates in May, there has been the official confirmation of the full band participation in the Lost Evenings Festival in Berlin.
Frank Turner’s touring event was supposed to take place in 2020 but with the beginning of the pandemic it had been cancelled.
But the invitation of the British singer-songwriter is still valid and after two years the public announcement that will see Gab De La Vega and The Open Cages on the Nick Alexander stage of the Columbia Theater in Berlin on September 15 has arrived, liberating and long-awaited. Info and tickets: https://lostevenings.info/

Gab De La Vega released two singles in the last 6 months, “We Could Be Anything“, an acoustic track and “Demons of Tomorrow“, a full band track.
He is currently in the studio recording a new album and booking another tour that will be announced in late spring.

Jaguero new single “Negative, Awesome!”

After releasing “Mild Safari”, their debut single, the supergroup with members of Slander, Regarde, La Fortuna release “Negative, Awesome!”.

The punk rock band from Vicenza (Italy) unveil another piece of the first EP, produced by Maurizio Baggio at La Distilleria in Bassano del Grappa, out in April on all digital platforms via Epidemic Records.

LISTEN TO THE SINGLE:

The band comment:
“Negative, Awesome!” deals with the concept of balance: every day, we all face our commitments, our hobbies, our jobs, pretending that everything is ok and that this routine is fine for us. In reality, this is consuming us slowly, and we are so absorbed by this process that we are not able to wake up and realize it.
It’s okay to accept also the negative parts of ourselves, because they perfectly co-exists with the positive ones. This is just who we are: a complex spectrum that goes from a bright side to a darker one.

Bristol hardcore punk band Grand Collapse release their new album “Empty Plinths”. The album follows two LPs and one EP and comes as a real masterpiece that finds the band in the best of shapes.

Their signature hardcore punk sounds are enriched and enhanced with some thrash, mosh and rock influences, which create, along with their direct and smart politically and socially charged lyrics, an explosive mix for all fans of bands such as Propagandhi, Conflict and Bane.

The album title refers to recent historical facts that happened in their hometown Bristol, which resonated and still keep resonating across the World. Cal, the singer, explains:

“In May 2020 the Black Lives Matter protest in Bristol resulted in protestors removing the statue of 17th century slave trader Edward Colston from its plinth in the city centre and dumping it into the harbour. This is an important day in Bristol’s history and an action I was happy to witness. It sparked a reaction across the world which is still ongoing whereby people are affecting their landscape by removing these relics of tyranny. We called the album Empty Plinths on the back of that day and with a consideration of a cityscape without these farcical monuments. We began writing the record in 2019 and wrote most of it that winter into 2020 at a time where social tension in the UK was peaking. I think that mood is reflected in the record which is a lot darker sounding and a heavier album all round. We’re really happy with how it came out and have to give props to Lewis Johns for once again being great to work with and achieving the sound we wanted. The album takes a few twists and turns and hopefully keeps things interesting throughout. It’s an angry piece of music.”

The album is released by Epidemic Records, TNS Records, Don’t Trust The Hype Records, Mass Prod., Urinal Vinyl on vinyl and it’s available on all digital platforms worldwide.
The band is gearing up for a series of UK shows to promote the album and will get back to touring Europe as soon as possible.

The band introduces the single by saying, “Mild Safari dives deep into the end of a relationship, caused by an upcoming departure. Just speak your mind in a pure way, and move on towards new horizons. “
